"Many years ago" I actually spent time canoeing the Churchill River system and even swam Otter Rapids. A recent request for a painting of one of the many rapids in the system reminded me of my "yesterdays" and gave me a longing to travel north - must write that into next summer's agenda!!
Here is the painting - a compilation of a number of views so it could likely be one of many different rapids. I actually enjoyed doing it and was pleased that I did not need to fight with the acrylics as is often my habit... maybe I am settling into using them - finally.

I love it! Brings back memories that I cherish of canoeing there, the noise, the quiet and stillness, freshly boiled coffee, sleeping out on precambrian shield but not before being in awe and delight at the beautiful, full coloured, dancing light show that reflected in the still water of the lake - doubled blessing! Worth all the sore muscles!
ReplyDeleteHey Gloria:) Yes, those portages were difficult!! I didn't mind the sore muscles from paddling but from carrying the canoe over head that was hard!! Perhaps we should take a trip north.....
DeleteThat is simply gorgeous!! I can practically hear the water rushing down the rapids. Your style is wonderful, so full of movement and light! xoxo Silke
